Realizing that I get about 10% done of what I have to do on any day, I just said, “let it go.” It’s just work.
The tasks will flow, the rain will come, and on occasion I’ll have back-to-back dinners with the fine crew from An Event Apart.
I should also remember our birthdays, Jeffrey’s and mine, are a day apart — a day apart.

An Event Apart brings it’s apartness to Seattle today for a design conference that’s, well, apart from any other. Headline names, sold out crowds, and I’ll be there just chilling. Later in the week, on Wednesday, I’ll talk with DevGroup NW all about business blogging.
Having just got back from SFO, Napa Valley, and SOCAL, it’s good to be back in Seattle and the rain.

After a lull in the action and getting caught up this week, I’m right back at it with client work, meeting with Six Apart in SFO this week, attending An Event Apart, speaking in Portland to the DevGroup NW, off to Interbike, Spain in September, then starting in November I’ll speak at 3 of Six Apart’s Business Blogging Seminars.
I maybe speaking at the Blog Business Summit. Haven’t heard, but that’s going to be a great event.

With a sport-utility bike, I’ve been taken the scenic routes. Riding with my children on the back to soccer practice, school, dinner out, and errands. And we’ve been talking, noticing things we didn’t see in the car, and today singing some songs. I also rode with the Ditty Bops and haven’t driven a car since last week and I won’t until next week.
Besides not being on the highway, I haven’t had to drive around the block to park. It feels like I got part of my life back.

My daughter just said, “you’re going to hear lots of bings and bongs, doesn’t mean anything is wrong.” She was unloading the dishwasher, putting dishes away, and letting me know in case she banged the cups or plates. “Thanks Anj!” I replied.

Much of August I took off, disengaged from work, clients, and business blogging to focus on Bike Hugger, bicycle blogging and building Bettie, our sport utility bike project (photos & videos of Bettie).
Tomorrow, it’s back to work, speaking, evangelizing, and all that I do here at Textura Design. Surprisingly, even as a blogger, I didn’t realize how many cycling-related blogs they are or expect the positive response to Bike Hugger.
