A note to designers that when creating a logo, it’s a good idea to flip the comps around a few times … look at it in different ways, hold it up to the light. Because a design effort to embody the Office of Government Commerce’s effort to, “improve value for money by driving up standards and capability in procurement,” may instead resemble a masturbator.

At last, Apple has announced plans to compete with the Microsoft Surface aka “Big Ass Table.” We previously wrote about the Big Ass Table as part of our CES coverage in January.

“I started this as a joke, from the trunk of my beat up 89’ Toyota Camry.” It’s now a multi-million dollar branding success, run by a straight-edge guy in his mid-twenties.

You’ve heard or read about the missing iPhones and the cracked ones? Well, there’s one right there, spotted in China and I presumed all the other ones I saw were cracked as well.

I noticed the Chaos Defrost option on the microwave and thought that’s either a Dr. Evil setting, some new way high-tech way to heat up food, or they meant “choose defrost.” The possible result of Chaos Defrost is that all the food comes our scrambled.

Just in time for the all the new MIDs at IDF2008 and the iPhone SDK, Yahoo! launches a new suite of mobility apps that includes Flickr and the service is voice activated.
That’s even more mobile social, and when I was putting together a list of apps I use when moblogging, I wish I had Flickr and Delicious.

As expected, Intel announced “the internet in your pocket” today at IDF 2008 and a bunch of new devices, like the Gigabyte device we saw at SXSW and these from Intel’s campus. NYT covered the announcements, and during the press Q/A today, it was confirmed that the name UMPC is finally dead.
As one of the worst-named product lines ever, that’s good news. More on the MIDs tomorrow and live blogging tonight from Shanghai.

We use a collection of mobile apps and hardware for the mobile social, including:
I post with my iPhone and MacBookPro. While not recommend for the non-experienced rider (especially in traffic), I shoot on-the-bike video with a Casio Exilim and edit that in iMovie HD (the older version). We’ll move to Final Cut Pro later in the year with the arrival of the new Canon HDs camcorders. I also expect an incredible offering of mobblogging apps, as soon as developers figure out the iPhone SDK, Intel’s Atom products start showing up, and mobile internet devices mature. We’ll see a bunch of those devices tomorrow here in Shanghai.
